In Azerbaijan, the mountain range immediately to
the north of Baku looks very promising. The mountains
are the foothills of the Caucasus that rises from
the Caspian. The range runs parallel to the sea-line
and rises up to about 1600 meters less than 10 kilometers
from the shore. The conditions appear highly favorable.
The range starts about 15 kilometers north, with
potentially very attractive flying around Xizi and
Siyazan.
Azeris have suggested that the southern town of
Lenkoran, close to the Iranian border may be a great
place to fly. The town lies on the Caspian and the
mountains rise just behind it.
