This site, located about 35 minutes
NW from Tbilisi, is very flexible, allowing launches
in many directions. It can be attractive for soaring when
the wind comes from the North or North East. The ridge
is about four kilometers long, running East to West. It
may also be possible to catch good thermals from this
launch site, but we have not managed yet.
There is a good view of the Caucasus range from here.
Our launch site is to the east of Kaspi. It is easy to
identify from the main road running from Tbilisi to the
west of Georgia. A good four-wheel-drive will not have
difficulties getting to the launch site. Coordinates available
on request.
The electric cables running to the north of the ridge
are a potential hazard, especially for inexperienced pilots.
Wind: N, NE, E, S; it may be almost wind-still in Tbilisi
when there is good NE for soaring at Kaspi.
