The site in Rustavi is the
mountain to the west of the town. You cannot
miss it as you drive to Rustavi from Tbilisi. It is
a great location to fly when there is good wind coming
from the West or Northwest. The launch site is at
about 760 meters and you can fly down to about 460
meters.
If the wind is coming from the Southeast, you can
take off from the highest point of the mountain, close
to a mobile phone antenna. However, this is a modest
flight, less than 200 meters of altitude.
Another flight is possible if the wind is coming
from the East (which is rare) or if there's very little
wind at all. You can then fly from below the large
cross down to Rustavi, therefore from 760 meters to
about 360. If you want to fly into the town itself,
rather than landing next to the road, make sure you
have done a detailed check for power lines among the
buildings.
Access depends on whether you have a four-wheel drive.
If yes, you can drive straight up the mountain (ask
the locals). Without a four-wheel drive, you will
have to go around the mountain on the road to Azerbaijan,
and turn right into the road leading up to the mountain,
but only once you're already fairly high up, with
the mountain now located to your North.
